Kraft TSN Celebration Tour

There are 3 older fields that need to be upgraded, lighting would be nice so we can play late like most of the other fields we compete at in other communities. Our batting cage has no cover and .. well this is vancouver, this is a rain forest .. a steel roof would make the facility much more usable for the season. Our softball fields also have a building and a mish mash of containers and sheds as our facilities. All grounds and facilities are owned and maintained by the local municipality of Delta. Ladner is a village in south Delta area. A small community of around 20,000. Our concession and ump shed are very old and dilapitated. Our equipment shed and grounds maintenance are not buildings, they are steel boxes, not very asthetic nor very functional, although they are safe. If we had a dream it would be to amalgamate with the large facility used for day care right beside us in the same park, also an old wooden structure, and build one large facility for everyone, including the tennis courts. This is a massive undertaking, probably much more than we will get .. how about just fixing up our batting cage? That should be about $25,000.00 to expand it a little wider, maybe a little longer and put a steel roof over it all. We would be eternally grateful. Thanks for your time. The first picture is from our website, www.ladnerminorfastpitch.com on our park maps page. It is an view from the air of the full school plus softball diamonds and tennis park. The second picture shows the local streets and directions for access, also on our website. The third picture is a recent photo of our field #1 and the batting cage is the steel fence structure on the right at the far end of this diamond. This is a westerly looking picture. The forth picture is from the back edge of diamond 2 which is beside the tennis courts on the middle south area. This picture shows the other or opposite side to the previous picture, showing the batting cage on the left. This is a north-east looking shot. Of course, our whole community would be thrilled to be recognized and a kraft celebration tour would be a great honour. Sadly, our softball season only goes from April 1 to the end of June. We may not be there playing softball if this happens in August but we will be happy to have a special event for your tour. Regards, David Egan

As the scheduler this season I can truly say it was an epic job trying to find fields to play on in those first two weeks. The rest of the season is also a challenge with the rep teams that use the diamonds limiting the availability for the house teams. A diamond with lights would go a long way to helping with this scheduling difficulty. I do believe that a cover on the batting cage would also be of great benefit, often the girls can't practice at all because of the weather.

I have been associated with this association for 1 years as a coach and an executive member and despite all our efforts we have been unable to secure any funding form the local municipality for maintaining our fields let alone improvements.... 25 grand of improvements would make a lot of kids very happy...

Ladner Minor Fastpitch, or LMFA (http://www.ladnerminorfastpitch.com/) has been a community icon in Ladner for decades. We are just one of many volunteer community organizations within the larger municipality known as Delta. We develop coaches, players, umpires and field maintenance crews. We are very proud of our many volunteers and their unselfish commitment to our players, coaches, umpires and their families. And my daughter wants me to arm wrestle Jay, Dan and then Darren Dutyshyn? !!

Not to mention that we had to cancel the first two weeks of our season because the drainage is so bad the fields were unplayable. We had to play our homes games in a neighbouring community. We need help!
